Preliminary Ecological Assessment

The backbone of any site assessment…

A high quality Preliminary Ecological Assessment  is key document often required to accompany your planning application particularly developments breaking ground in green or brownfield habitat. The Local Planning Authority will need to be able to assess the impact of your proposal on wildlife.

A Preliminary Ecological Assessment involves desk based and field work to determine an ecological  baseline for your site highlighting the potential for protected species, presence of a statutory designation or important habitat types.

It is quite likely that this is the only ecological survey work required to progress your application, however if this initial survey highlights the potential for protected species such as bats or Great Crested Newts further survey work may be required. If you proposal is close to trees you may also require an Arboricultural survey to BS 5837: 2012.

All our survey work and reporting is completed to the highest standard following industry best practice guidelines.
