The wildflower meadow below is part of a recent habitat creation project we undertook as part of a large development project. When it is necessary to compensate for loss of habitat, or enhance habitat as part of a project, our values are as follows:
- Not to waste money on expensive schemes that provide limited ecological benefit in the real world
- Develop pragmatic solutions that are proportionate and will work
- Consider the long term implications of the mitigation including monitoring and maintenance
A robust and well thought through mitigation scheme can make the difference between a successful planning application or wasted time and money. We believe that almost every development proposal represents an opportunity to enhance nature conservation and that this can go hand in hand with profitable development.
