Expert North Wales Ecological Consultancy

Our Story

2013

Eco-Scope is founded by Stuart Kato in North Wales. With a new family on the way and a derelict house under renovation, Stuart takes a leap—leaving secure employment, securing a bank loan, and setting up the business from a tent in his garden. Early projects include ecological input on golf course remodelling (Woodland Environmental Ltd.) and the luxury Gorse Hill lodge development.

2014

Eco-Scope becomes a limited company and welcomes its first employee. The team secures long-term contracts with UK Highways (A55) Ltd. and the Grosvenor Estate, delivering ecological and landscape consultancy. By year-end, the three-person team completes 65 commissions.

2015

The company moves into its first office in Menai Bridge and begins delivering contracts across North Wales, Chester, and the Southeast. The team continues to grow.

2016

Eco-Scope expands its public sector portfolio, securing contracts with local authorities including Conwy and Gwynedd.

2017

With over 270 successful projects completed, the team relocates to a larger office at Bodnant Business Park to accommodate growing demand.

2018

Dr Richard Birch joins the company as Principal Ecologist, bringing decades of specialist ecological experience to the team.

2019

Eco-Scope surpasses 500 completed commissions and wins a long-term contract with North Wales Police. The team grows again, adding another Assistant Ecologist.

2020

Shortlisted for the CIEEM Awards, Eco-Scope successfully oversees works near an active peregrine nest — resulting in a successful breeding season during construction.

2021

Civil Engineer Kerry Evans joins the team, strengthening the consultancy’s capacity in highways and infrastructure delivery.

2022

The company relocates to its current office at Telford Lodge. Completed commissions reach 809.

2024

Eco-Scope welcomes Principal Ecologist Mark Morgan and Assistant Project Manager Joe Parry. An expanded admin team brings the total staff to seven.

2025

With 1,278 successful projects delivered, Eco-Scope continues to grow as one of North Wales’ most trusted ecological consultancies.
